Notice of A446 traffic road closure
Notice of A446 traffic road closure July 2020
| www.hs2.org.uk
High Speed Two (HS2) is the new high speed railway for Britain. Early works for HS2 are carried out by a joint venture between Laing O’Rourke and Murphy & Sons known as LM.
We are continually reviewing works on our construction sites in line with Government and Public Health England (PHE) advice on dealing with COVID-19. The Government’s current COVID-19 strategy makes clear that construction activity can continue as long as it complies with this guidance.
The health and safety of our workforce and the communities we affect is our key priority. Please be assured that those sites that are currently still working are doing so because they can operate within PHE and construction industry guidelines.
We will be carrying out works
We are carrying out junction improvement works on the A446 Lichfield Road, between Water Orton and Coleshill at the entrance to Severn Trent treatment plant. The reason for these works is to ensure the site has suitable access for vehicles required to undertake the building of the railway. We have been working in the area since October 2019 but now need to implement some additional traffic management.
Overnight road closures
Starting on Friday 31st July and ending on Friday 7th August, overnight road closures will take place on the A446 near Water Orton. A signed diversion, highlighted on the map on the following page, will be in place. Access to frontages will be maintained.
The overnight closures will run from 8.00pm to 5.00am.
After the overnight closures have been completed on weekdays, works will continue and revert to current traffic management with temporary traffic lights in place between 9.30am and 3.30pm.
